Just wondering how many of you guys have the 424 on your quad? I put one on my Rancher and all I can say is it made play riding alot more fun It also steers quite a bit easier... I recommend it to anyone....did the install myself and wasn't that difficult..took like 3 hrs taking my time...

I've been really toying with the idea of getting one, but I want to ride someone's bike who's already got it installed first. A $200 expenditure when I don't really know if I need it would be really frowned upon by the Mrs.

lol here's a true story that happened to me I never was able to justify in my wife's eyes spending $3,000+ on a quad when I have a new daughter and plenty of house repairs that need to be done so when I bought my 424 I told my wife it cost $50....she was on to me because when I picked it up at the dealer I thought she was busy watching my daughter(thought being the key word here) because when I slipped the receipt into my pocket never to be seem by anyone I then reached onto the counter to pick up my 424 to my surprise she sneaked up behind me and snatched the receipt out of my pocket...i'm still hearing about to this day well worth it though:) I hope she never looks in my softball bag and finds the new $300 composite bat that I didn't buy

That's a good story. At least you have control over your money. Every time I get paid my wife's like, "balance your checkbook so you can give me money," and "how much do you have?" So, I get an allowance. Almost thirty years old and I'm on an allowance. Figure that one out.

You get an allowance, man your lucky I don't even get that. Every penny that goes into my wheeler is made on odd jobs or by selling some of my older junk.
Anyway, the 424 has made a huge difference, I love it. Once you get used to riding in 2wd, 4wd seems hard as heck to ride in. I think it is worth every penny. I believe I paid $225 u.s. for mine. Also i think it adds alittle excitement in the mud and snow, as i'm sure you all know how good the 4x4 ranchers go, it fun to have a challenge, and seeing if you can make it through mudholes in 2wd.

Hi,
Just curious how the 424 installation went.
Easy? Good instructions? Any drilling/permanent mods?
In my house, I make all the $, I keep track of the $, I can spend the $ on whatever I want (within reason), and my wife gets the "allowance"... It's good to be king!! ;D

My installation went pretty easy. Be sure to take the front diff loose so you can slide the stock front shaft out easily. I believe you have to slide the shaft forward so it will clear the splines, and do the opposite when you install the new shaft. They recomend drilling your plastic to mount the switch, but I just zip tied mine to the handle bars, with intentions of clamping it later but so far it's working fine. I have also seen them mounted on the front rack. I would guess about an hours work alltogether maybe alittle more. On another note, does anyone other then me think that the little rubber starp that holds the front disconnect on the shaft from turning is cheesey. I wasn't to sure that this rubber piece would hold up but so far it's worked fine and I've tested it's limits pretty good. I wonder what your wife would say if she read your post Activator . lol

Thanks for the info, Brooks. The wife knows... she's a good sport.
