I've always used Castrol products for everything...engine oil, tranny, differentials, outboard, snowmobile, lawn equip. Not for any particular reason but, in 25 years I've never had a fluid related issue.

I'm a Castrol 10W40 man myself. It's what my dad always used and it has worked for me in cars, trucks, motor cycles, and my Rancher.

Eventhough the OP is about 3 weeks old, I'll just add my $.02.
When we bought our 2 new '03 Ranchers (mine & wife's) last fall, we decided to keep them as 'Honda' as possible. I use only Honda GN-4 oil & Honda filters. I may pay a few extra bucks (or maybe not in some cases), but I feel confident that if the label says Honda, then it must be good! After all that's why we bought Hondas in the first place!
BTW, I only use Mercury Quicksilver parts & lube in my MerCruiser boat engine, Genuine Chrysler parts in my LeBaron, etc. Get the picture?
